"Argerich's very sensitive response to pianistic color and texture is everywhere in evidence on this disc." —Records and Recording
"Maisky & Argerich make a strong partnership and there is enormous character about their playing here. Indeed it would be possible to feel that their readings are overcharacterized, so attentive are they to every dynamic nuance and hairpin that is marked (and plenty that aren't). The performances are exhilarating and will be relished by many collectors, particularily in such vivid recordings. A bit too incandescent and personal to be what is called 'a library choice', but three stars all the same." —Penguin Guide to CDs & Cassettes
"These annual live sets from the Lugano Festival are one of the delights of the year." —The Observer
Exciting is too mild a word for her musicianship. There is something feral in the energy of it. The sound, even at the quietest levels, speaks directly from nerve ending to ear. Ms. Argerich achieves this without the slightest trace of self-aggrandizement. The beauty of her presence - she is like some bounding feline transposed into musical sound - grips the audience, yet she gives no indication that she is aware of us at all. -concert review by Bernard Holland, New York Times, 1996
