To call this New Release unusual would be to grossly understate the obvious. After all, who's ever thought about an orchestra made up entirely of accordions? But here it is, and what a tremendous find this is.
First of all, these artists aren't the run of the mill accordionists, the guy who played at the wedding after everyone begged him not to. These are the finest players in the world, assembled to play as an orchestra, a tightly honed group that breathes life into some of the most beautiful classics. If you're wondering what it sounds like, imagine a great Cathedral organ, just portable and a bit more intimate. There are sounds these instruments produce that you cannot begin to imagine.
As to the performances, the Brahms' Hungarian Dances are simply spectacular! And hold your breath for the most energetic rendition of the William Tell Overture you're ever going to hear.
Playing the finest instruments, the Hohner Accordion Orchestra led by Rudolf Wurthner will dazzle you!
This is one disc you won't find anywhere else, and you should have this one!
-Jacob Anthony
The precision of these accordionists is quite remarkable. Their intonation is absolutely perfect and so is their ensemble. -San Francisco Chronicle
