Long before the hysteria of today’s “Three Tenors,” the opera world was blessed with three other marvelous tenors: The Three Tenors of the Golden Age. Their names are legendary: Jussi Bjoerling, Mario Lanza and Jan Peerce and 22 arias sung by these giants have been assembled on this marvelous disc.

Jan Peerce, who was Toscanini’s favorite tenor, is featured in arias ranging from the rarely heard "O paradiso!" from L’africaina to the effervescent "La danza" and the infectious "'O sole mio." His was a marvelously expressive voice that captivated audiences around the world.

Jussi Bjoerling, a Society favorite, is heard in arias by Puccini, Flotow, Leoncavallo and some popular songs. The voice was silky and gorgeous…what else can you say?

Mario Lanza was as much a pop star as he was an opera star and this collection highlights his extraordinary flexibility. This is a fabulous look back at three artists who were the superstars of their day, and best of all, the sound has been improved so you can really hear the singing.
